A Homefirst Hero to be Honored at An Evening of Thanks
Sophie Braun is an amazing young girl who gathered her fellow swim team members and organized a swim-a-thon to benefit Homefirst after hearing about the organization and its work to end homelessness in the community.
Sophie says “Since I was little my family and teachers have always impressed upon me that helping others whether family, friends, neighbors or strangers and taking care of each other and our community are important priorities. I truly feel this and wanted to act upon these values. I first came in contact with Homefirst when volunteering for MLK Day at the JCC in Scotch Plains. Knowing that both my faith and my home give me so much security, I wanted to figure out a way to support Homefirst’s mission.”
Sophie continues, “Swimming is a passion of mine. I am on the Barracudas Swim Team of the JCC of Central NJ. Coming up with the Swim-a-Thon was a fun way of helping Homefirst through my love of swimming. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the First Annual Make a Splash Swim-a-Thon!! I’m also so thankful for my new friendships with Gaby and the staff at Homefirst. I can’t wait for the Second Annual Swim-a-Thon this spring!”
Thank you Sophia, for being a Homefirst Hero!
