“Sophia’s Book Stand” was created by an innovative 7-year-old who wanted to give back to her community.
Recently, Sophia began receiving many books and decided to share her good fortune with families that can’t necessarily afford books. She loves books and wants to share that love with the world, one book at a time. Her project involves donating books to children ranging in age from newborn to 10-years-old, but all kids are welcome to register for books!
On Sophia’s Facebook page, she states “I love to read – it takes me to magical places & helps me learn about new things. I want all kids to love reading as much as I do. I know all families can’t afford to buy books right now so I would like to send those kids free books. I hope this will help kids to love reading and that they will never stop reading!”
Homefirst has partnered with Sophia’s Book Stand to bring the joy of reading to the families they serve. Many of these families are either homeless or near homeless and this is one less worry for the moms struggling to educate their c children. Homefirst is working with Sophia and her family to make sure all the kids they work with have books to call their own.
