(Homefirst). Her speedy walk time resulted in Sandra winning a medal for the 3rd fastest time in her age bracket. The Fountain Fast Feet team raised a total of $1,481, exceeding their original goal of $900.
Last year Sandra donated to the event, but didn’t walk, however she promised herself to make it this year knowing how important the work is to help homeless families at Homefirst. “As a former social worker, I understand the hardships families go through and the trauma homelessness causes on children and their parents. Homefirst is working hard to help end homelessness in our community and it was easy for me to participate and help raise funds,” said Sandra.
Sandra regularly volunteers with Lisa Glover, Homefirst’s former board president, at their church, Fountain Baptist Church in Summit, New Jersey. Sandra has known Lisa for a few years and have volunteered together at the church on many projects.
“Lisa has previously served on the Homefirst’s Board of Trustees for a number of years and she always talks about the work that Homefirst does to help families. It was easy to commit once I knew what the walk was for,” stated Sandra.
“I am thankful for Sandra and our other volunteers for taking time out of their busy schedules to solicit donations and to participate at the recent Generosity Series 5K Run/Walk. To date, their efforts have raised nearly $6000 for Homefirst,” said Laurethea Kidd, Homefirst’s Acting Executive Director. “All proceeds will help us fight homelessness and offer programs that improve the quality of life of children and families in Union County.”
Homefirst is still approximately $1500 shy of our event fundraising goal. If you would like to make a donation please follow this link HERE.
