our home

Our most recent rehab is a three family home in Plainfield. This house is being renovated to provide permanent supportive housing for three families. The first floor will be a three bedroom home. The second and third floors will each have two bedroom apartments. This house was built in the early 1900's and was run down and used as apartments before we purchased it. Like most of the units Homefirst owns, this is located in an historic neighborhood in the city of Plainfield. Funding was provided by a HUD grant and matching funds from a private donor.

We have also purchased newer condominiums as housing units for families.

As we complete units 32, 33 and 34 we have already procured government funds for the purchase of eight more units; we are currently looking for two or more multi-family houses.

Recent Projects

The Safe House project, in partnership with the Junior League of Summit, provides a secure home for families that have been victims of domestic violence.

When residents of Safe House moved onto their own housing earlier this year, we sold the house and used the profit to buy another house. This newly purchased and renovated house will soon be occupied by another family in need.
